Angel’s journey into tattooing began at the age of 15, driven by a deep passion for art and self-expression. Despite a lack of local mentors or apprenticeship opportunities, he was determined to learn. He remembers building a homemade tattoo machine from an old radio motor and a guitar string, testing it out on fruit and pig skin.
In 2010, after saving up for a professional tattoo kit, Angel tattooed his first person—his mother, who has been a strong supporter from day one. She often offered her own skin so Angel could practice, helping him build confidence and skill until the machine felt as natural in his hand as a pencil. Mitov quickly made a name for himself, winning multiple awards at the Bulgarian Tattoo Show over several consecutive years.
In 2014, driven by a thirst for adventure and growth, Angel moved to Birmingham,UK where he worked among other talented artists at Vivid Ink. The British tattoo scene marked a turning point in his career —more progressive, bold, and open to eclectic designs.
Two years later, Angel relocated to the Victorian city of Glasgow and was fortunate to enrol in the academic Drawing and Painting program at the prestigious “Glasgow Academy of Fine Art”, where he studied under renowned artists Sarah Margaret Gibson and Lee Craigmile. The five-year training had a profound impact on Angel’s artistic vision and style.
Today, people often describe his tattoos as paintings rather than drawings on skin.His unique approach has led him to collaborate with some of the top names in the tattoo industry across Europe,North America and Japan. When he's not tattooing, Angel continues to develop his fine art practice and is proudly represented by Scotland Art Gallery.
Angel now works from his private studio, Watcher Tattoo in Glasgow, where he takes on commissions for both tattoos and oil paintings. His current wait time for new appointments is between 1 and 2 months.
